So I was thinking of getting http://bit.ly/VYqrSx but it doesn't seem to have optical I do have speakers but there terrible and I am using one of my monitors for my speakers now

Why do you want surround? I used to have fps1500 4.1 and they were absolutely horrible.
You want good surround? Get the cheapest headphones you find from the OCN audio sticky and pair it with Xonar DG(X) for virtual surround (or use onboard with razer surround software).

If you pay 75$ for 5 speakers and a subwoofer... Don't expect them to shoot rainbows through your ears.

Uh why would I want headphones? If I was going to do that, I'd use my iPhone headphones

You might want headphones because you can't even get a halfway decent surround sound system for under $100.

I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but if you want any sort of quality, $100 surround sound system isn't going to get you even halfway there. $100 headphones could do it though.

Even a $40 pair, such as the ugly-as-sin Koss PortaPro would get the job done.

Sigh... Another one of those "my audio gears deserve 5 stars as long as they make sound"
I'm talking about headphones, not some 5$ in-ear junk.

I got my HD681Evo for 37$+postage and it came bundled with velour pads almost identical to 20$ AKG-240 pads. And all the "PC surround speakers" I have listened to sound like garbage compared to them.
And as for surround... Better than any of the surround speakers I have ever tried.

And this is coming from a guy with 180$ headphones and 500$ 2.0 speakers.

good headphones however like someone else noted after playing for a while, it is very uncomfortable for your ears
