Or you could get a XSPC kit and have good cooling with low noise

the noctua is about 40 under load on high setting. If you keep the fan on a lower fan speed you get around 30dba. It definetily is an ugly fan but as mentioned above there is the phanteks ph-tc14pe and that comes in lots of colors and will perform similar. If you want one thats sexy get the Alpenfohn K2. The new K2 actually out performs the noctua, and its way prettier looking, just harder to find one. Anyways my point with the big air cooler is you can run passive, you dont even need the fans. You can run under light loads and no overclock and never turn the fans on. Or you can run at low speeds and keep at a safe overclock that doesnt push it.

http://www.frostytech.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=2525&page=3

the phanteks is virtually the same amount of sound its just a bigger cooler. Make sure it fits your case and you would be happy with any double tower im sure. They all have the ability to run passive, and also have great overclock potential

Edit:

This one might be the best choice for beauty and sound:

http://www.bequiet.com/en/cpucooler/309

@ 900/1250/100% (rpm)
13.50 / 19.80 / 26.40 dba

That cooler is by far quietest of the double towers. The dark rock pro 2 is my new favorite of the double towers. Super perdy biggrin.gif

Okay, even though the only thing in the chassis to make a whisper will be the 24 dbA MSI 770 it seems the chassis itself will make about 40 dbA noise in idle using stock fans so I guess a H110 doing about that amount of noise will be okay.
And at least I can comfort myself with that the only things making noise under load should be the 45 dbA H110, 40 dbA chassis and maybe the power supply will start sounding at about 20 dbA or some similarly irrelevant value.

No way to tell how it wlil work out until the entire build is done I guess but I’m quite confident the H110 will be a nice choice.

read this, then search the same forum for more H110 problems with noise.
IMO air cooling is the only way to go, there are lots of air cooling heatsinks that will let you overclock

I'm not too worried.
I’m buying a complete $2400 system to-go and the store will build it, test it to make sure it works perfectly and I’ll have a two year warranty and all of that at only $120 extra.
Any and all issues that are not on every individual item of a model series are not of my concern.
And then we’ll see.

I was gonna build it... but the mere thought of spending an entire day or two puzzling everything together and possibly having some parts DOA made me rethink plus I only get one year warranty if I do it myself tongue.gif
