Ram questions

In my system properties

RAM installed 8 gig (6gig usable)

how do i get my 2 gig back?
is it hardware reserved? I noticed in the AMD sys monitor prog that when I clocked my 16gb (4x4gb ~1600mhz) corsair ram to 1866mhz that my system put 8gb(2 sticks) into hardware reserve (found out my board can only handle two sticks in dual channel at 1866mhz...) maybe something similar is happening to your rig. so check the motherboard stats and make sure to note speeds and dual or quad channel modes. also check for supported ram modules(sticks) as well.(my board specs don't seem to be updated very often... might or might not help).

and as last hope, check and make sure you don't have RAMdisk or another proggy like that running that will be eating up 2gb of your mem.

Here it is

I only noticed it recently, I was just 8gig before.

Since then i've tried to tweak heaps of things

Anyone know what part of the bios i can adjust this from?

I was told by asus to update the bios when i got my 7870 xt gpu last month, I think since new bios???

What's your motherboard? The only other thing I can think of is if the mobo it has an integrated GPU. Upgrading the BIOS may have turned it on.

CPU - AMD Phenom II X6 1050T - running turbo boost or something up n down to 3.2ghz
MB - Asus M4A89td - Pro/USB
RAM - PQI 4 x 2gig (8gig) @ 1333MHZ
GPU - Sapphire 7870 xt Just got last week... thinking crossfire

I got it back after i changed the AI suit.

Is there a noob guide for ram?

Basically i have pqi running at 1333mhz but when i overclock it knocks it back to the lowest clock 1066mhz, and doesnt seem to want to boot when i put it on the higher clcok 1333mhz <----

I have the HT ref clcok @232MHZ core at 3200mhz - turbo core enable up to 3800mhz

My MB saits it supports 2000mhz so i waould say i need 1600mhz @ 1.5v and run it at 1.65v?

ram specs off pqi website.

Applications Desktop
Module Specifications 240Pin Unbuffered DIMM Non ECC
Chip Layout 128x8、256x8
Capacity 4GB、2GB、1GB
Transfer Bandwidth 10,660MB/Sec (PC3 10664)
CL Value 9-9-9-24
Operating Voltage 1.5V±0.075V

Mb is m4a89td pro/usb3

make sure all the automatic overclocking features are off if you are overclocking it manually... there are various guides out there and what not, I mainly have links for the FX8150

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/printpage/Understanding-All-Voltage-Configurations-from-the-Motherboard/995

some other links in sig...

no expert with ram, but think it's saying it shouldn't go above 1.575V
you also have to adjust the stepping(or timing?) for stability.

thank you, so do you think my 1333mhz is ok or will I notice a big difference if I get 1600mhz and oc to 2000mhz (with appropriate timings)?
No big differences will be made, but higher frequencies are good for benchmarks.

DDR3 RAM can be ran at 1.7V 24/7 no prob, I have my RAM at 1600mhz 8-9-8-24-33-1T 1.71V. I can overclock to 2048mhz with 12-14-13-30-40-1T 1.73V just fine.

I have had this problem as well. Here's the fix.

Go to Computer > Properties > Advanced System settings > Advanced tab > Click on Settings tab under Performance > Advanced tab > Under Virtual memory, click change.

I currently have mine set at custom size, with 16MB as both initial and maxium size. Choosing "No paging file" instead should work too.
