First build based on the AMD 8350fx (black edition) turned into psu nightmare - Page 17

Update i finally got all the components but my case had a scratch. After a days arguing with the company i finally got it. I also tested the components . when i turned the psu on i heard a klick (rather loud thought it was normal). Put it together after the case arrived with a guy who builds pc for years now. turned the pc on for first time and bang. I just saw a bright flash behind the pc. We tested the hdd ssd and they still seem to work but the psu is flat. I have no chance to test the other stuff though. im depressed and need your opinions and general comfort

Ouch, sorry to hear that.
Is there a dead short somewhere that caused this to happen?

Glad to hear everything's running solid! What was the issue??

In regards to benchmarks here are a few you might want to try (I suggest running all the one's I'm listing on top of simply playing the games/software you will be using your comp. for; imo that's the best benchmark because it's real-world results)

Benchmarks:
- FurMark (GPU)
- MSI Kombuster (GPU)
- CineBench (GPU & CPU)
- 3DMark (GPU)
- Prime95 (CPU)

Those are some good starter benchmarks, if you're really serious I believe there should be a good number of posts out there that get very detailed depending on your configuration (Software/Hardware)

Hope this helps (I know it's a bit late but better late than never right??) GL and Happy Benching! thumb.gif

well the psu exploded. And no its not running nicely. i got 5 problems now. since this is my first build so many things turned bad for me biggrin.gif. my buddy said he never had so many issues in one build.

1.Cables everywhere: i had everything done propperly. All nicely layed out cables and then the psu said no and made a big bang. so everything out and in with the new. I was so frustrated that it now looks like a nightmare

2. PSU exploded:. Now im super carefull on everything i do with this pc because i fear i might di something wrong biggrin.gif.

3.Stock cooler:I dindnt find (and the guy who fixed my pc after explosion) no mistakes which i made. but im blaming it on the cooler. it was very close to the gpu. call me pranoid but im runnig stock for now

4.HDD doesnt work. My MB gives me the 0d error code. In the maual this code is reserved on future errors. and hdd isnstalled it doesnt boot nor lets me acess the bios. On the other PC it runs fine though

5.´Ram, problem: i got 8gb of ram. Windows shows me that 8 are installed but only 4 usable. and yes i have a 64bit windows professional. But i got it as a "gift" tongue.gif
'
need your veteran skills. please help me biggrin.gif

thanks in advance
and im so tired right now so im sorry for spelling

Was it the CX power supply in you signature that exploded, if so, that should NOT happen. Even if it is Corsair's lowest-end, their power supplies shouldn't just blow up.

Ok first of all, check your motherboard manual. Chances are, it is not compatible with the RAM or you stuck one of the them in the wrong spot.

If I didn't make it clear, I feel really sorry for you. I sure hope that this doesn't scare you away from computer building forever, it really is a fun hobby and stupid stuff like this happens with electronics every once in a billion times. It just sucks that it is your first build though. I'm sure that you didn't do anything wrong though but first things first, RMA that PSU.
