570 sli with dual monitors eproblem with auto downclocking

Ok i have 570 sli graphics cards (factory clocked) running a 1280 x 1024 60hz monitor and a 1920x1080 60hz monitor. Currently i have both montiors plugged into the bottom card in my setup as my top card gets very hot.

During normal usage this would allow my top 570 to downclock to 50hz while my bottom 570 would stay at max speed due to me having two monitors. This works as usual while my pc is on.

However as soon as a switch the pc off and back on again neither card in the setup will downclock at all. Both are stuck at 800mhz. This persists until i remove my 1280x1024 montior from its bottom slot on my bottom graphics card to the bottom slot of the first graphics card and back again.

As soon as this is done it downclocks fine until i switch the pc off again and i have to do it again.

Anyone know whats causing this and how to get it to downclock from windows booting up without me having to move the cables around?

Have a look in this thread: http://www.overclock.net/t/964370/howto-dual-monitor-downclocking-fix-for-nvidia-cards. It is tailored for this issue in pre 600 series cards.

Thanks for the link although id actually seen that. While it would probably fix my issue its not specifically what im looking for and i would like to find a fix for my specific part.

Anyway ive found the problem. From a previous setup I had power management set to maximum performance instead of adaptive. When adaptive is on the card downclocks correctly from windows boot. It also fixed another small issue where my card would go full clock when i was watching a film or a youtube vid.

Thanks for the help anyway.
