First off I am running sli gtx 680 4gb with hdmi lead to my Panasonic 50" 3dtv.
Would like to try out downsampling but when I choose to set the scaling mode the only option
available in the drop down is "display" Any help or explanation would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dude, good luck with this...I've had the same problem, and could not find answers anywhere.

From what I COULD gather, though, is that 3DTV's have their own signal processing. To prevent confusion, while transferring the HDMI signal from your PC to the 3DTV, the scaling is solely completed by the 3DTV. This is why the option is gone.

For a while, I thought it was my graphics card or cable. Until I was unsatisfied with my 3DTV purchase and returned it. After using my spare HDTV (LCD, Non-3D) I noticed the GPU scaling option was present. Therefore, I figured it had to be the 3DTV and it's input processing characteristics.

If anyone does know a way to fix/force GPU scaling with 3DTVs, I'd love to know too...otherwise, I'll probably end up purchasing a standard LCD HDTV, accept the lesser image quality, and enjoy lag-free gaming again.

Actually, as luck would have it, I just found this.

http://afriendlyfox.com/2013/02/04/massively-improved-nvidia-3d-vision-on-passive-3dtvs-edid-override/

Originally designed to help with Passive 3D bitstream issues, but it ACTUALLY tricks a passive 3DTV into thinking it's an Acer 3D monitor...and BOOM, I now have the GPU scaling option!

Pay attention; the direct link provided for the .inf file is for LG 3DTVs only! There's another link to assist you with other brands, so SloanSX - you will want to find that alternative link for your Panasonic.

Hope this helps!!!
