Need a new storage drive

Hey guys,

I want a storage drive for my movies/TV shows, as my 1TB is currently filling up. I would like at least 2TB, but 3TB would be preferable. Preferably under $150, but not a requirement. I was looking at either this Seagate:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148844

or this 3TB WD Caviar Green:
http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Caviar-Green-Desktop/dp/B004RORMF6/

I would prefer a Caviar Black or Blue (or Spinpoint, but I guess those are discontinued?), but black is a little more than I want to spend (2TB is $210... bleh) and I don't see any Caviar Blue drives around with 2TB+. So I thought the Seagate might be a decent alternative, but then I read a lot of people talking about they had some major reliability problems in the past. Does anyone know if that is the case still, or have they improved a lot?

I think I would rather avoid the Green drives just because of the lower power mode they go into. My roommates and I will often stream video off the drive via PS3 Media Server, so it would be a little annoying to have to wait for the drive to get up to speed every time we watch something. But I would rather deal with that than risk getting an infamously unreliable drive.

Thanks for any help.

I suggest Seagate Barracuda drives. They really work well, get the job done, and Seagate is the best company I have ever dealt with. As of the "unreliable drives", you can expect people to say that about every hard drive, reguardless of the company, size, type or model. 100% success rate is impossible for components.

I have been running a 1 TB drive on my other desktop that was seagate, and I needed another drive for more editing room (AVI's are the worst formats ever) so I ordered another 1TB drive from seagate. The drive never shipped out to me after 5 days, so I called, and they apologized, upgraded my order to a 2TB drive and set it to next day shipping.

TL'DR,
Seagate is the place to go.

EDIT:
I've also got dual (RAID0) 2TB Barracuda's in my current build, they are fantastic.

Second edit (I really need to think things over before I post)
If you getting a drive because your other one is getting full of videos/movies, I would suggest
A) Make sure you are downloading or saving things to an MP4 format. If it is AVI (audio video interlace) it is 100% uncompressed. E.g, a 10 second recording can be more than 10GB if it's .AVI. if it's MP4 (h.264 if we're getting technical here) can have 10 hours of video for less than 10GB.

TL;DR make sure videos are compressed MP4, not uncompressed AVI

Well I know that most of the time people will just complain and moan whenever they get a bad drive, and some people will have really bad luck and have a few drives fail on them. And the complainers are generally the very vocal minority, as most people that are happy with a product just live happily at home with the product instead of telling everyone about it online. But I don't really hear that much negativity about WD all that much (at least the Caviar Blues and Blacks) compared to the other brands. And I had read talks (somewhere here on OCN, actually) about some firmware bug in some of the Seagate drives, but I think that was from a while back and I would assume that firmware bug has been fixed. But because I don't want to spend money on drives and then more money on backups for those ones, I would like to have a reliable one. One day when I see a deal I can't pass up maybe I'll buy some drives to have a backup of everything.

Also yes, my videos are compressed .MP4 and .MKV formats, most between 2-3 GB per movie. I just have a lot of them. But there's also several full television series on the drive, standup comedy specials, and my music library, comic books, and some saved downloads. It's just a lot of media and some backup installation files.
