Enclosure for Expanding a RAID Array?

Thread Starter
I ran out of room in my HAF XM case and want to add four more drives to my array. I'm thinking of leading out my cables through the water cooling hole into an external enclosure. I've looked all around for something that would be good for this but didn't come across anything useful. Can anyone recommend me a good enclosure or is there a better way to do this?

Do you still have three 5.25" bays open?

Yeah, just realized I have two 5.25" and two 3.5" hot swap bays open. I guess I'm just going to need a 5.25" to 3.5" bay adapter now... it will be a lot cheaper not needing to buy a case enclosure.

Are you running a real RAID controller in that system, or RAID built into your motherboard? A real RAID controller (like a LSI 9266-8i) would be compatible with a SAS expander, either internal or external, that would allow you to connect more drives than you have available ports.

They make some pretty nice 5.25" 3.5" hot plug bay modules - something to consider instead of regular old school 3.5" to 5.25" adapter kits.

I use these in some of my servers and the quality is very good. I think I might have one for sale. Shoot me a PM if you decide to get one of the same.
