Is there any way to force the custom refresh rate in games?

I have 144 Hz ASUS monitor and Nvidia GPU. I usually use it at 120 Hz, as a lot of stuff works better that way. However not all games allow me to set them to 120 Hz and I want to force that in drivers. The problem is - they allow me only to set it to application-controlled or to the highest refresh rate (144 Hz for my monitor). Is there any way to force 120 Hz?

Indeed there is.

Download Nvidia inspector and set a frame limit to what ever you want.

Keep in mind though that this does not change the monitors refresh rate and only sets an FPS cap.

If you want true 120Hz then you will have to change monitors refresh rate in the nvidia control panel and set the monitors refresh rate to 120Hz. If that option does not exist by default you can probably add it as an custom resolution/Hz.

I know about a frame-rate limiter in Nvidia Inspector. I know how to set the refresh rate on desktop in Nvidia drivers. My problem is the fact that I can't force 120 Hz refresh rate in games on my native resolution.

So I either need the way to force 120 Hz in games through drivers, or somehow remove 144 Hz as a supported refresh rate from 1920x1080, so that forcing max refresh rate would give 120 Hz.
