Have you looked at the cpu coler in post #135 ? http://www.hardocp.com/article/2014/03/04/cryorig_r1_ultimate_cpu_air_cooler_review/2#.UxdVIvl5N8F (ram clearence)

Couple of things to keep in mind:
Cryorig R1 Ultimate is farther forward than Cryorig R1 Universal by a couple mm
Cryorig R1 Ultimate uses 25mm XF140 front fan, Cryorig R1 Universal uses 13mm XT140 front. fan.

Distance from front of fan to base to front of fan is now 46.7mm on R1 Ultimate plus 20mm is 67mm from center CPU to RAM
Therefore it should be about 32mm on R1 Universal.
Base is 40mm front to back so 20mm from center of CPU added to 32mm is 52mm from center of CPU to RAM. .

I wish they would stop making non-low profile ram so everyone stops complaining about air coolers hanging over DIMM slots mad.gif

There is plenty of RAM that is not too tall to fit under coolers and fans.

I wish people would stop whining about RAM being too tall and start buying RAM that is short enough to fit under normal coolers. tongue.gif

If all ram were low profile, then they wouldn't whine in the first place! mad.gif

I'm sure they would find something else to whine abit instead... like why they need to plan out their builds so everything fits. tongue.gif
"I can't close my case because my cooler is too tall." or "My GPU won't fit because the cooler covers the top PCI-E." or "I have 38 fans and my GPU is still too hot." or "I got all these 2000rpm fans and it's too loud." or "Why won't my ATX motherboard fit in my mini-tower case?" biggrin.gif

Or companies could innovate a little and make great coolers that work with any RAM and any case. This is the 21st Century.

Yes it is the 21st Century. But making coolers to fit all cases and RAM would be totally unrealistic.
Mini-Box M350 Universal Mini-ITX is only 7.5"W x 2.4"H x 8.3" D. 2.4" is 61mm. I doubt Vengeance RAM will even fit in the case. tongue.gif

Overclocked 130w CPU can push 250w. That take a big cooler.
RAM doesn't need much if any cooling.. even when overclocked.
So why have all this bling, bling stuck onto RAM making it too big to fit? rolleyes.gif

There's coolers for any use you want. If you have the NH-D14, you can put the fan on the rear. It's built to be small enough to fit in any case where 120mm coolers fit, will not hang over the first PCI-E slot for ITX and mATX boards, and it also won't hang over the RAM (only the fan does).

Meanwhile, those heat-sinks on the RAM sticks that make issues have no actual use, could instead be a sane height. They are pure bling/swag.

EDIT: I made a mistake... just looked in the case to check and the NH-D14 does hang over the fourth RAM slot, only slot one to three are clear.

Many ITX and mATX boards have CPU too close for 140mm wide coolers to clear PCI slot. Even some ATX have problems with cooler clearance on 1st slot. I don't think Asus Rampage IV Extreme will not accept a GPU in 1st slot with 140mm wide cooler.
