E6600 + AS5 + Tuniq + 25cm Fan = Good? - Page 2

I lapped my Tuniq tower and will post a quide in my sig. I was actually disappointed that I didn't see a dramatic drop in temps right away, but after burning in with 24 hours of prime 95 I did see about a 4-6C drop in load temps, and a 2-4C drop in idle temps. I expect this will continue to decrease. I have heard that with a good finish between your HS and CPU it takes longer to cure, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, but does it need to be plugged into a fan connector other than the cpu fan slot to obtain full speed?

It does take 200 hours for as5 to cure, before you will see good temps.

Those temps are way to high for your rig...somethings up. Either too much AS5, not enough AS5, concave/convex heatsink, where it isn't really touching the chip...defiantely shoudl be lower

My lapping guide is up, see my sig- Also, your temps aren't horrible at all, especially considering the vcore in your higher clock. Default vcore for the e6600 is 1.35, and I always get nervous about going more than about 5% above the stock voltage, but I'm a baby.

How high you should keep your temps depends on how long you want to keep your current CPU, the higher your operating temps and voltage, the faster the clock ticks toward your CPU starting to act funky and finally dying out. My last build lasted about 2.5 years with the vcore up 5% and temps around the 55C mark before data corruption started. With that in mind, if you're failing stress tests, your temps are too high and you need to cool it off or back it down.
With my current build I'm sticking with the default vcore, and so far it's been more than adequate to put me up to 2.9Ghz on a e6300. I'm guessing I have more I could do, but my temps are getting higher than I want, so I'm just chilling here for now.\\

Also, after looking at your build specs, I'm wondering why you've opted for a lower FSB and higher multiplier in your higher OC. With your RAM at DDR1000, I'd try to get to that 500MHZ FSB mark so you can have a 1:1 RAM:CPU ratio. I don't have a lot of experience with your MB, but the 680i has almost universally been able to hit that mark. Just a thought.

I have a 1:1 ratio at 400 FSB. And lower timings. I am also a noob to OCing, so I just try to do the best I can with the information available to me and get opinions on the rest.
