Next, the DT 770 are the #1 headphones on your list by faaaar. They sound great. Their headband is made of a strip of metal that you can bend to adjust the clamping force, whereas many other headphones are made of cheap plastic that doesn't allow you to do this. They have big cups and comfy velour pads. They're well constructed. They don't look dopey on your head. What separates the beyerdynamic big three from everything else is that they get everything else in addition to sound right.

Anyway, it seems like the best phones for you are the ones you already have or the SR950s, but I dunno if either of them will solve your ear problem. The Sennheisers are supposed to be comfort headphones...

if you put on a pair of razer tiamat headset you would change your mind about surround sound. They are the only ones that I have seen that everyone is happy when they get them. The only surround sound headphones out to date that actually work right. I think youd be surprised if you used em. I have tried ps3 sony pulse, turtle beach earforce delta and earforce xp510, also tried ABS FX-8 surround sound headset (worst of the bunch) and they all were crap. The Razer Tiamat is the only way to go and I am sure all would agree once you have givin it a shot.

I am interested to try the multi-speaker surround sound turtle beach has now though, its TB earforce Charlie and it looks interesting.

And I take it that you haven't used quality studio headphones? With my DT-770 I can pinpoint the direction in 5° accuracy (bf2:project reality) and the SQ for music is superb. HD681Evo seems to be even more accurate.

All the surround system I have tried have been extremely bad for music (headsets/logitech junk/etc). Keep in mind that the headphone/speaker costs are divided by 6-8 drivers so the quality for each driver is pretty bad, and what makes it worse is that music is always 2.0.

Yes yes, lets not ad to the endless debate threads of who is right in the "surround" headphone/set vs stereo argument and the surround enthusiasts won't give up.
