When I upgraded to windows 8, my system worked pretty well and I was overall happy with it. With one problem... My .Net framework was apparently corrupted in the process and while it wasn't an issue in the beginning.. oddities like Java not working could easily be navigated around. The problem is over time it seemed to get more and more corrupted. Speaking with someone else who had upgraded, they mentioned having similar issues and the best solution was to simply do a completely fresh install of Windows 8 as opposed to upgrading.

While I realize my key is for an "upgrade" I was thinking I could back up and restore the activation files since I'd be using the same version of windows and I would just be bypassing the "Install A then B" game. Unfortunately, when following the instructions here the end result was simply being back at square one.

I'm honestly not wanting to reinstall 7 to upgrade again since it messed things up the first time... is there anyway I can get this working smoothly without having to start from scratch?
