But that's really odd though, cause the vent is at the bottom, plus there's two others, one on the left hand side and one at the back of the laptop.
I played DotA 2 in A/C and my temperatures got to 86 degrees celsius, which is a lot cooler than when I was running Most Wanted. I'll check GTA4 and Starcraft 2 and get back to you guys on that.
But about modding the case, I dunno....... Will it help a lot?

I have a old Clevo/Sager laptop with a AMD 6990M in it. The gpu temp on that always hovers around 100*C, and it's still kicking along after 2 years. I *have* burnt out the 6990M in it before, but that was because I was pushing it beyond what I should've. For daily gaming, a gpu sitting at 96 will be fine.

Quickest and dirtiest mod to drop lappy temps is to elevate your laptop on top of 4 coke bottle caps (1 each corner obviously). It'll allow for more airflow.

In a non a/c'd room it hits about 96-98.
All DV7's have this problem?
My brother has a Pavillion DV7 and his fan vent is different from mine. The fan is in the same place, but the meshed vent on the bottom of the laptop isn't there, and his still doesn't get as hot as mine.
His specs are:
HP Pavillion DV7
i7 2670qm
1 tb hdd 5400rpm
8gbs ram
2gb ATI Radeon ddr5 6670

Compared to mine, his is relatively cooler.

I usually place mine on a book, avoiding the air vent. It seems to work, somewhat, but it still get's pretty hot.
I think I'll have to look for a cooling pad for it.
