and take your apple hate somewhere else. It says OSX specifically but I would imagine apple in general will apply. If I feel it's a better solution based on my own experience plus plenty of positive viewpoints from the majority of this thread as well as my dad's 5 years or so owning a mac then what is it to you what I do. Asked for suggestions, not trolls. Get over yourself already.
Well, I understand the need for a rule like this and I do think some people deserve a good punch in the face sometimes but that's BS. They should replace that with a general "anti-fanboy"-rule: If you make enough posts containing nothing of value aside from mindless glorifying and bashing of companies you will be banned for X hours (regardless of what it is about).
@OP: I would suggest you get a MBP since it's a good machine if it suits your needs in terms of capabilities and connections etc . (Or a MB Air as Zero4549 suggested, they're lovely, light machines) , and give OS X a good try for a month or 2 . You can always install Linux or Windows on it if it turns out you don't quite like OS X after all. And their resale value is above the average windows - laptop / netbook.
After those 2 months you'll have a better idea if you want to go with the Apple eco-system.
I'm not sold on the Time-capsule and Apple TV thing though. The time capsule is basically a Router with a HDD in it? And Apple TV is basically a media streamer for the TV? Hmmm, I would definitely read some thorough reviews about those to see how well they perform, how manageable is that Time Capsule etc. . Apple TV is too locked down for me, but that's just me.
(Something I always wonder with those "smart beam" routers, how's the performance when there are like 10 devices connected? 10 sounds like a lot but consider: 4 people in the house = 4 smartphones, 4 laptops, that's already 8 . Add a TV and a printer and you're already there ... ) Something to think about

there is NO way i could've gotten a rig like i own right now from apple, but their OS works perfectly fine with the hardware they supply, and like heres the thing: if you play OSX compatible games, most the time you dont need more htan a HD4000. i remember playing borderlands 2 on my mac (from 2011), it was all on medium settings but i managed to finish the game and it wasnt like a slideshow too.
pretty much if you do OSX compatible "gaming" you dont need anything more than a HD4000, but if you want to install windows for to play something like assasins creed or whatever, then i suggest an imac/retina macbook pros because iirc, the normal 15" will not get a haswell refresh.
1) Apple must sprinkle the hardware with unicorn-tears I suppose? a HD 4000 is an HD 4000, OS X or windows, it's pretty low-end. So if you're happy with HD4000 -graphics then you'll be happy with them on OS X or Windows...
2) It's scientifically proven that every time you use words like "brah", "swag", "ballin", "playa", in a non-comical way, you lose 9001 brain cells and a kitten dies somewhere in the world. You dig brah? (Trust me, when you get older you'll look back at your younger self and laugh, mostly out of shame
