Dual GPU Setup/Pump Question

I am in the process of planning a new build that will have 2 radiators and 5 blocks: CPU, 2x GPU, motherboard, RAM. Both motherboard and RAM blocks are for looks and will not be removed. I am pretty sure one D5 will suffice for this setup. However I have a greater concern for which I cannot come to a conclusion for. I prefer parallel because it looks better to me. Putting the GPUs in parallel will cut flow by the amount of GPUs in parallel, 2 in this case, but restriction is also cut down a bit allowing more flow overall. Even after reading much for the past few hours I cannot figure out if you still aim for that 1GPM mark with a parallel setup (2GPM+ overall?) or if the blocks are perfectly fine with flow between .5-1GPM. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

With a parallel setup you can't control, nor will you ever know, the flow rates through the blocks.
Higher flow rates always yield better cooling.

Let's theoretically say I have a MCP35x2, then it would not matter if they were in series or parallel (even if they were of low restriction) since the flow can changed to accommodate both setups so in the end its purely an aesthetic choice?

No. You would get the best performance with the blocks in series since that would yield the highest flow rate. That's not to say parallel wouldn't work, just that it wouldn't work as well.
