Which headphones to get? - Page 2

I recommend the following for closed:
- AKG K550
- Beyer DT770

I recommend the following for open:
- Beyer DT880
- AKG Q701

If you are willing to look for used:
- HiFiMAN HE-400
- Sennheiser HD600

Consider also posting a link to this thread in the OCN Headphone and Earphone Club thread to see if you can get additional input. Good luck with the hunt!

do you have a guitar center near you?

cause if so you could probably go give a lot of the suggestions so far a listen

I own and love ATH-M50 headphones (mine have Shure 840 ear pads on them however...as personally I didn't like the stock pads ...uncomfortable /hot for me, much better with the Shure 840 pads)

so if you want closed (which you do if you need to keep external noise out ) might consider giving the ATH-M50s and Shure 840 headphones a listen .... If I hadn't got the ATH-M50s i'd have probably gotten the Shure 840s

I see the ATH-M50s are about $150~ at amazon right now (mine cost only $100~ new on sale) but that would also leave you some budget to maybe go nicer on the dac / headphone amp.

I use and am happy with a FiiO E07K and E9 which would run about $200 i guess right now (you'd want the E09K now if buying new however.... I had the E9 when I got my E07K for xmas last year).

$50 over budget but i can say very nice for music and games ....

also at the $200 dac / headphone amp price point there is the Schiit Modi/Magni

http://schiit.com/

you could also stay just in budget

with the Topping TP D2

and the aforementioned ATH M50s

Thread Starter
Thanks you guys! I decided to get a DT770 with a FiiO E10, as that's the only thing I can get shipped to my country which is within my budget.

If you guys have any other suggestions, please!

I will be using B&H. That's why I didn't go for the DT 880 as it's still at $350 there.

Thanks again!
