honestly, memory overclocking is overrated as hell. The performance gain you get by it you won't even notice. It's just e-peen

Or running an APU and using the iGPU. Those things are greatly held back by memory bandwidth, and it is only going to be worse when Kaveri is out.

actually i believe higher clocked ram is better for ram drives and for editing and such there isn't really any benefits too gaming unless your gaming off a ram drive but for programs that can actually use the faster ram it is well worth it

But RAM drives are VERY risky. Bad bits won't show up because processors have built-in minor ECC (albeit maybe 128bytes out of 1GB is alright no performance dip) but if you use them for RAMDrives be prepared to get bad bits corrupting your entire data

And yes i know how risky it is because i've lost data like that. Stable in memory hard-core tests no problem, not OC'd either but the moment i put something after a short while all memory data gets corrupted

i use a ram drive on a server which uses ecc ram i havent had any issues with data corrupting it could be do to the ecc or maybe im just lucky idk haven't tested with a system thats overclocked so idk but what i mean higher clocked ram would work better with ram drives being faster and such but even so most people dont even use ram drives so i guess my point isnt really valid biggrin.gif

Probably more of a driver issue than anything. Stable RAM doesn't just randomly corrupt data.
