thank you so very much for all the replies guys. I did delid and put AS5 between (its all I had/have) and at this point im out of time (ffxiv open beta started yesterday and when it goes live I don't want to have my pc in pieces lol) and im broke due to the mess ive dealt with getting this thing running right. Im glad to hear the temps are acceptable, but I didn't buy all this gear for them to be acceptable.
I read some stats that a reviewer (anandtech maybe?) of all the haswell's they received for review, 70% made it to 4.5, 50% to 4.6, like 20% to 4.7, and 10% to 4.8 stable. Im at 4.5 right now and I wont dare go any higher w/ the voltage. After the modding I get temps of about 80c loaded w/ small ftt. tube/rads still not getting warm. Room is ice cold and have a fan aimed at pc for now. System temp is 23c (I live in us so im not sure what it is F but I know its damn chilly in here).
I know these run hot, but id really like some more speed out of it, atleast 4.7. Im just having trouble reconciling with the fact that im getting the same speeds as the majority while using what was supposed to be a pretty high end WC setup. Make sense or am I out of line? lol.
Anyhow, with the pro mount kit for the v1 fusion from dtek, is it safe to run the haswell naked? I assume htat will further lower my temps? I know I cracked the corner of an amd thunderbird years and years ago and one time it kille dthe chip, the other time it kept on chugging. BOth times were with a standard HSF and those used to be a biatch to put on without one side going down first. With todays blocks its much less likely, so what im moreso asking is A) will the pressure from cranking down this waterblock all the way (has the pressure screws etc on it) be too much and crush the core? and/or B) wthout the HSF will it even go down far enough and contact the core to begin with?
Other than that, I have to get a new block, I have some stuff im looking to trade once I find someone with one I have no doubt I can free it up. I'm desperate enough to offer quite the deal lol.
Like someone had mentioned the waterblock itself wont make too huge of a diff (although it is v1 which is apparently super restrictive? used to be considered the top dawg /sigh)
Someone else indicated the pump which may not be flowing well due to all the rad/restriction (I also have a 90 In my loop) and the fact the pot isbroken off. I am searching as we speak for a guide to which pads I need to solder to get 100% speed out of it with a broken off pot, because form what Im hearing it only runs at 70% which may be ok with a small loop but im thinking may be costing me with my current config.
Anyone able to tell me if I can expect a change with a full speed pump (25% faster) tempwise? Or do me one better and school me on how to wire it for 100% speed? (mcp655b w/ no pot)
As always, thanks for reading all this mess and even moreso thanks for helping. I spend so much time gaming or doing the daily grind that I rarely post on forums these days and when I do, its usually due to something like this so I feel like such a selfish chump. You all have my gratitude.
