Some Questions about upgrading to Windows 8

Thread Starter
Hey everyone i just found out i get windows 8 for free from school and i had a few questions about doing an upgrade install. I am currently running windows 7 x64 and i was wondering if i upgraded would all of my programs and files stay intact and more specifically registry entries. I have quite a few games and programs that i have manually copied over from previous os installs like skyrim that require registry entries to work. Previously i had to manually add them because i lost the disks and it was a pita. So will Windows 8 leave everything intact and just change system files?Do i have to reinstall any drivers?like CCC? Also i was wondering when windows 8.1 comes out will it be a simple windows update or do i have to do another install?
