Need help with colour ghosting/blurr on fonts.

Hey. Just got my new display and I have a slight issue.
The text everywhere has a colour blur to it, just around the edges. I didn't have this on my last screen.
If I turn off 'Smooth Edges of on screen fonts' it goes away. But then the text becomes hard for me to read. I've also tried multiple times to calibrate clear type but it never seems to get rid of the colour blur. Is there anything else I can try?

Thanks.

Technically, that's what ClearType does - subpixel rendering, so the edges of text can be rendered using part of the next pixel to improve it. It seems that your new monitor has a pixel layout a little larger with a bit of a larger space in between pixels that makes the subpixel rendering not work optimally.

That's interesting. I didn't know that's how it worked. Monitor is a 27' 2560x1440 Asus. I've got clear type off at the moment. I might get used to it. Could try a different font I guess. Thanks for the reply.

i believe it can be to do with sharpness / contrast controls as well.

Have you played with gpu/ monitor settings? thumb.gif

I've had a look in the Nvidia control panel but can't find anything that makes a difference. I will have a play with the monitor controls. Cheers.

Advanced settings on the monitor are greyed out. Would that be because I'm using display port?

I use a TV - look at profile.

But i know if my sharpness is out, i can get reddish tinge on the text. And noticed it when setting up my uncles monitor.

I would have thought a PC monitor would have been set from the box!

looks as though it needs playing around with thumb.gif

Thanks for that. I'm still struggling with this problem. Can't seem to fix it doing anything. Annoying.

Well that's odd. It's much better if I use an HDMI lead rather than Display Port or DVI DL. Why would that be?
