AMD 965 BE Overclocking NEED HELP. System has full Watercooling / high grade build

Hello Everyone,

Okay so i just recently got into the whole computer Building and loving it, just finished my very first Build. i Have about 2500-3000$ worth of Parts inside of the case. right now Im am running the following items

http://www.microcenter.com/product/388124/Eleven_Hundred_ATX_Gaming_Mid_Tower CASE

http://www.microcenter.com/product/325874/Phenom_II_X4_965_Black_Edition_34GHz_Boxed_Processor CPU

http://www.microcenter.com/product/383618/Vengeance_Series_16GB_DDR3-1600_(PC3- 12800)_CL10_Dual_Channel_Desktop_Memory_Kit_(Two_8GB_Memory_Modules) MEMORY

Motherboard
ASRock 990FX Extreme4 Socket AM3+ 990X MOBO

EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680+ with Backplate 4096MB x 2 OF THESE RUNNING IN SLI OVERCLOCKED BY 135MHZ AND 500 MEMORY

http://www.microcenter.com/product/341486/RS-C00-80GA-D3_Silent_Pro_Gold_1200_Watt_ATX_Modular_Power_Supply PSU

3 - 24 INCH DELL MONITORS

5 TB WORTH OF STORAGE

The System is fully water cooled curtousy of a swift tech H220 with Addons of an extra 120 mm rad and another 240mm rad for a total of 600mm worth of Rad cooling on theCPU alone also have each rad with COolermaster 2000rpm Fans on them set to full speed npoise isnt a problem for me as i always game with my astro p90s on. will be making a Custom rad box of 4 360mm Rads in a seperate loop just for the GPUS when i decide to water cool them.

i currently play wow, battefiled 3, crysis3, skyrim, Final fantasy 11 and 14 a realm reborn(when it comes out)

So here is my true question. i wanna be able to game on all games at ultra setting with high 60s fps and up
i Have my cpu o/ced from 3.4 to 4.043 with idle temps at 26-28c and loads temps at 35-38c. also if i vent my a/c air into the case i get idle temps of 18-20c and load temps of 28-30c
unfortunately i cant post cpu z validation as im at work right now but my stats are as such

4.047ghz
cpu multi is at x19.0
fsb is at 213
vcore is 1.4875

now from what ive been reading from forum after forum is this cpu can max out at temps of 62c. so that gives me a leway of about 20-24c to keep overclocking it higher. but i can seem to get past an hour of prime 95 when i try anything other then what i have now.

i want to try to get this cpu to at least 4.4 or even if possible and yes i would like 4.6. if i cant get those then i will be upgrading my cpu to a fx 8350 and o/c it to 5.0.

if anyone would please help me figure this out it would be greatly appriciated.

here are some pics of my first build completed 2 months ago

If you spent that much money on your build, you should have gone with a higher end Intel CPU for gaming.

Be that as it may, given your water cooling, you should be able to push your CPU voltage up to a max 1.55V as long as your are under the max load temps of ~62 C.

I would definitely recommend a FX-8320 as a gaming upgrade.

4.4 or higher is going to be pretty tough with a 965 even under water. I think for a rig with that much money on it, you should really invest in a 8320 or 8350. A 965 is a great budget chip but a budget chip doesnt belong in a rig youve spend $2000+ on.

I had the 965 on hand and was on a budget of 2600 I saved up so I figured id just use it and over clock it until I hit a wall with it. But im actually going to upgrade next week on payday to the fx 8350 and o/c it to 5.0 or 4.8. Well for now I actually seem to be running a nice o/c of 4.2 I got home at 430 Md did some tweacking and ran it at 4.2 on prime 95 since 5 and still going strong but voltage is at 1.5125 at load temp is 44c for the past 2 hours. So I feel I can still take it further to 4.4ghz. And still have good temps if I raise the volts another notch. Im still learning how to over clock and I have to say im bloody f'in addicted. Also might upgrade my board next week also to the asus formula v. And add another 4gig gtx 680 for 3 way sli.

You will probably need 1.55v for 4.4Ghz. Going the extra 200Mhz is always a steep curve when it comes to vcore. Try keeping your cpu nb frequency at 2800mhz. What frequency are you running your ram at?

id try for a higher fsb like 250fsb with 17.5x multiplier i can hit 4.2 with my 965 at 250fsb 17x multiplier on air at around 1.56v but every chip and board is different but i think with a higher fsb you could hit 4.4 maybe smile.gif

Thats why I made the tread im still a month old noob anr learning so all the help I can get will be highly appreciated
