I fear it will fail. People without enough PR/propaganda/social programming won't do anything on their own these days unless it is to counter something extremely painful. So, again...Canonical could make the best phone in the world and make it out of gold and I'm sure it still would fail because consumers fail. In a way this is me helping because often the opposite of what I believe will happen in life happens.
What saddens me more is how ignorant and full of outright false claims certain members on this forum that is supposed to be full of the technically inclined and enthusiast, have shown themselves to be with their posts in this thread.Needless to say, someone in this thread claims that Linux's flaw is that it is open source and community AND company backed unlike their favorite OS backed by just a company. They seem to think that their OS is the only one that has legal, technical, and private/public companies working on the code, providing support, and so on because they just don't have a clue how Linux is made. But to shut them up I'll reply with this...want support/warranty for a Linux OS then BUY from a retailer; for the standard user on desktops and laptops there are places like System76, Zareason; for Servers there is direct support from Canonical, Red Hat, etc. So...to Domino has it sunk in yet about your flawed argument being destroyed? Sorry mods but someone needs to use logic and reason to debunk the FUD spreaders. PS: MS often defers you to the OEM your computer came from first so how is the situation any different here?
