LED Rad fans - Page 3

I can't really suggest good LED fans for a radiator, sorry. All the LED fans I've come across have been somewhere between just OK and outright terrible for radiators. My personal recommendation instead of LED fans is to just get some nice normal fans, paint them, and get some aftermarket lighting.

Perhaps the phobya nano or prolimatech vortex fans are decent. Nether existed at the time when I was still in the market for LED fans. Can't really say anything about those. I do hope one or both are good though. LED fans can be nice sometimes, and it's a market that is really lacking in quality options.

My CM Sickle-Flows are good fans, and push enough air through my rad. Someone earlier in this post also had good results from the CM Sickleflow. rolleyes.gif

Martins tests also showed that the CM Excalibur was a hell of a fan.

Seriously, what's with all the CoolMaster hatred? People seem to be throwing a fit about them, yet all I've ever seen was good results form them.

Seriously, what's with all the CoolMaster hatred? People seem to be throwing a fit about them, yet all I've ever seen was good results form them.

I don't hate CM. In fact, I have two of their cases and one of their keyboards and love all 3 of those products. The keyboard in particular is one that I constantly suggest to everybody due to being incredibly well built and yet dirt cheap.

Cooler Master is however a very inconsistent company. They make some really nice products, and a whole lot of really garbage ones.

Even within some of their products, there is a peculiar combo of excellent and disastrous quality components / aspects. Take for instance the screws that hold everything in my CM 690 II (an otherwise very nice case). They're all made of such a soft metal that the head completely strips before they actually unscrew/screw into anything. They literally need to be drilled out of the case and replaced with new screws, and might as well be plastic rivets for all they actually do.

One thing they have been fairly consistant with however is their fans. They are consistently bad. Are their newer excalibur fans better? Perhaps, but they aren't LED fans, are they?

Now, do you have any evidence that the sickle-flow fans are actually good, or just "I think they're good because I have them and my computer doesn't overheat"? Cause if it's the second option, I have some Apevia fans in one of my systems and it doesn't overheat. I also have an Apevia power supply and it hasn't blown up. Doesn't mean anyone in their right mind would actually recommend them.

The Newish Cougar LED fans works just as good as their non LED versions and the Green from personal experience is a very deep Green.

That graph was from tests martin published in 2010, so the Excalibur being a decent fan is nothing new. rolleyes.gif

Here's some more recent tests.
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coolers/display/120mm-fan-roundup-2_4.html

Those tests show the Sickle-Flow has better noise/performance ratio than the Excalibur.

Enough tests for you? wink.gif

Oh, nice!

I was almost going to get those over my Sickle-Flows but being that I needed 4 of them it was around 30$ more expensive so I went with the CM fans.

They look really nice, how do they perform?

I need red LED versions for my build. I looked into the Cougar LED line and their blue and green versions look great but for some strange reason, they decided to put an orange fan on their red LED. Have read reviews that it looks red in the dark but during the day it is a nice bright orange. Yuck.

Yes it's the phobya nano 2-g's I mentioned I was using in the earlier posting. I just thought you might like to see how the led's look when they are running.

Without being at all technical, I think they are good performers for my needs.

I have 2 x gtx580's a koolance 380i cpu block and ek motherboard kit in my loop. currently at idle the cpu is @ 29 degrees, gpus & motherboard @ 32 degrees while fans at at 618rpm, they ramp up automatically via a custom fan curve and I've never had any cooling problems. at full speed they are obviously louder but not to the point of distracting. I'm so happy with them I'm also going to use another 4 in push pull on a 2nd radiator I am going to add to my loop.

I'm also using rads with lower FPI so don't really need the fans to be running all that high, I can feel a steady breeze on the other side of my radiator even with the fans running so low.

they are definitely better than the 1500 rpm fans that came with my old xspc rs360 kit from my previous rig. I think you will be happy if you decide to go with these fans for your system.
