Build for a friend's wife - Page 2

Not sure why all the push for Intel chips, at this price point using integrated graphics AMD is a much better choice. I mean if you want to drop down to an A8 6600 to cut cost you still have a more versatile chip.

The Lian Li cases are very nice thought I never liked the Q27 because of the lack of fans in any form. If you are going to go that route however spend some money and get the right kind of PSU for that case. The Silverstone ST45SF-G is a PERFECT PSU for use in Lian Li mITX cases. Costs a bit more but make cable management easy in a case that it is normally a nightmare in. Plus the smaller PSU sizes makes it a ton easier to work with in the case.

The Seasonic G360 is pretty easy to work with in this case. It's clearly easier to do a build in the Fractal Design Node 304 which was also mentioned but the footprint on the desk is much larger. If one is doing only office applications and Internet the LL PC-Q27 is fine. I've checked the CPU temperatures on my wife's computer and they run between 29-32C depending on the temperature of the room (it's summer and her office is a little warmer). I don't think a fan is needed for these kinds of apps.
