AMD FX-9370 Build - Page 11

I believe the 9370 can get rather high on the volts... forget the top-out... but quite a bit higher than the 8350's.
also, check out this thread- http://www.overclock.net/t/1462503/investigating-some-walls-and-fsb-holes-in-the-fx-9370-chip-help-guide - it might just be the FSB crippling ur OC.

thanks for that link I will have to try and tweak a few things, maybe ill set ti to 230 and see what holes I can find I know I tried like 250 and 280 and it locked up.

200x24.5-25 causes me to lock up so maybe I will try the 25.5 suggestion.

Hey Jflisk or anyone else that may have any input,
I was wondering if I could get a little help from you? I was looking back at the AMD FX-9370 Build forum. I had asked a question about cooling for the CPU and you recomended this:

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/20837/ex-wat-261/XSPC_Raystorm_AX240_Universal_CPU_Water_Cooling_Kit_w_D5_Variant_Pump_Included_and_Free_Dead-Water.html?tl=g30c83s137

This is my gaming rig. When playing most games, I usually dont have a problem with my CPU, VCore 1, and VCOre 2 temps. When playing other games, Battlefield 4, or Only when in Battle, for Rome Total War II, this is when I do have a problem with the CPU, VCore 1, & 2 overheating. Eventually the computer usually will turn off from overheating.

Recently I was trying something out with Battlefield 4, by turning the graphics down on the CPU to see if this would fix my overheating issue. It didn't. I started to smell something burning and my computer shut down. When I took the side of the tower off that burning smell was coming from the power unit (Themaltake TR-600R). I unpluged the entire unit, and let it sit for awhile. After it cooled down I pluged it back up and tried to reboot it, but got nothing.

My question was, since our systems are somewhat similar, or were, if you ever ran your system air cooled? If you did, what temps did your system run at, and when you converted to liquid cooling, the one your reccomended, what temps did you run then? Also are there other liquid cooling systems or power units that you'd recommend?

This is the first computer Ive ever built, so Im still new to this. This is the first major problem Ive had since building it in mid December 2013. I have smelt the smell that I could smell today, but never so bad. The only time I get this smell from my computer is when playing the two games I mentioned above.

^That should never happen. What other parts do you have?

Do you have any other suggestions for an alternative PSU?

My buddy suggested the Corsair Professional Series AX 850 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Gold (AX850)

Not sure, but a quality ~550-650w unit is probably where you should be looking unless you're planning to run multi-gpu or overvolt a 290/780

those prices ($190!) seem crazy when you consider prices here for example:

Capstone 550m for $84
capstone 650 for $90 ($75 if you get rebate)
capstone 750 for $100

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=rosewill+capstone&N=-1&isNodeId=1

These are not the best psu's on the planet but i know them to be somewhat reputable and have heard around here of corsair ax psu's to be overpriced more than a few times

I see shilka is here now so i'l leave it up to you guys wink.gif

Not made by the same OEM so they have zero in common

You can find just as good cheaper so dont bother

The Cooler Master V850 is the same PSU as the AX860 and the EVGA SuperNova G2 is pretty much on par with the AX860i and its 40-60$ cheaper

But again you dont need more then 550 watts for one video card
