[CNET] Google outage causes huge drop in traffic

Google.com was down for a few minutes between 23:52 and 23:57 BST on 16th August 2013. This had a huge effect in the number of pageviews coming into GoSquared's real-time tracking - around a 40% drop, as this graph of our global pageviews per minute shows. That's huge. As internet users, our reliance on google.com being up is huge. It's also of note that pageviews spiked shortly afterwards, as users managed to get to their destination.

I don't think I approve of this much reliance on a single service. But WOW, 40% of the entire Internet's page views?! That's impressive. I doubt it's 40% of the entire tubes' traffic though, since most of that is YouTube and similar, but when 4 out of every 10 people are using your service at a given time, you know you're successful.

Probably to install more botnets. Google has lost my trust, they don't care about user privacy at all.

No one does, what dream world do you live in?

Iunno how this counts as news...

Oh website goes down for 5 min, then page views go down because the website is down, they get back up, then the page views come back...

Im sorry I just dont see how this is beyond common sense on how the internet works or something we already know, Google is big.
