Can You Buy Cherry Switches?

I know that you can buy sampler to test which switch you prefer but is it possible to buy a bunch of cherry switches in mass quantity? Say enough to try to make your own board? I think it would be interesting to attempt to build your own mechanical keyboard.

The switches run between $0.60 and $0.90 in bulk. You would be hard pressed to construct a full 101+ keyboard with a full set of switches for less than you can buy a mass-produced keyboard from one of the big boys. Here's a link to a group buy from back in 2011 of the same for general comparison.

In addition to the switches, you need a PCB and a serial keyboard controller IC and a USB bridge IC, plus the cabling and plugs.

What I basically heard was, this is really difficult so you should try it. Can the switches be shipped to the US? Also it isn't clear about the shipping costs, in the OP he says that the shipping is 4 Euros no matter how many you buy but someone asks about shipping it to the UK and he says that more than 100 switches are ordered then shipping is free.

That post was a group-buy. He was probably buying the switches by the case from China and paying international freight + customers, then parceling it out to the group making the purchase. There are companies that ship freight from China to the US/EUR all the time, your shipment gets jammed into a shipping container with a bunch of other customer's shipments, and you pay for the % of volume and weight that the entire container costs to get over the ocean.

That would be the current group buy for the switches since they are on preorder and yes they can be shipped to the US.
I preordered greens back in april and they were shipped when the organizer got the switches.
Items ship from Germany and it took a bit over 3 weeks to get my switches just got them recently haha.

Mouser keeps them in stock in the US:

Price depends on the specific switch and the quantity ordered. But if you buy enough for at least one full board, it's about 70 - 80 cents each.
