800$ budget gaming PC - Page 2

Yea but if he's not going to play CPU intensive games like planetside 2 arma3 sc2 etc you can still get 6300 and save almost 50$ and spend extra 50$ on Gpu

Yep, he's probably not. tongue.gif

Your friend would be much better off getting an 8320 in that budget range and putting more money towards the GPU. Any more than $800 and the situation would be different but that 8320 is a great value and for gaming the GPU really takes priority.

My vote's for an FX-6350 and squeeze in a 120/128gb SSD if at all possible along with the HD. Then 8gb of 1866mhz RAM and a GTX760 or better.

My experience with trying to OC the 8320 didn't go so well.... FX-6350 is a much better bet for gaming and easy to clock north of 4.5ghz where it competes with stock-clocked i5's in newer games.

I disagree. The 6350 isn't really worth the premium. Save the money, get a 6300, and get a good air cooler to go with it. I peak at 55 celsius in games with a 1 GHz overclock at 1.4v. 8320 is good, but games today don't use all the cores, though this may change soon. This is of course from an AMD perspective, not Intel, but always leave yourself other options. I do agree with the SSD, though 1866 MHz RAM won't see too many benefits over 1600 MHz. Finally, you may want to pick up a 7950 instead once they get clearanced when the 9000 series comes out - cheaper, and 50% more VRAM.
