Iam just all smiles right now and am very happy with the purchase I would just like some advice whats the best way to OC this beast? I have it set to 4.5 ghz on fsb alone, The multi is automaticly set to 20x v-core is pretty low as well and temps are doing great!~ There is so many features on this ROG board I dont know where to begin~ But I honestly didnt think a cpu and motherboard swap can make that big of a diffrence!~ thumb.gif
You're replacing a Bulldozer with a Piledriver, which can give you 15 percent right away. Then, you replaced a 3.3 GHz processor with a 4.0 GHz one, which is 21 percent added on to the 15 percent IPC improvement, for an aggregate of 24 percent (1.15*21). You've added two cores, which gives you a little more boost even on software that's not deeply multithreaded, and you've overclocked the new CPU by another 12.5 percent. You could easily see large FPS improvements on games that were CPU-bound, especially older titles that ran well on the Bulldozer to start with. In most real-world scenarios, you will see improved performance, but nothing so dramatic, though.

As far as pushing the 8350, I've had best results with a combination of pushing the multiplier and the bus clock. I'm running 24/7 at 231*21 on my 8350, with Turbo off. You will probably reach a thermal limit on a Contac 30 long before you reach 4.8 GHz, though. At that speed, you're going to be right at that cooler's limits even at idle, pulling well over 100W. Reaching speeds like that can be done on air, but it generally takes a dual-tower cooler with high-powered fans.

I am saying that if you go with a H100i over a heatsink realize that pump makes noise

If you want a heatsink go with NH D14/Heligon HE01 you wil have less noise.

Iam having a hard time increasing Cpu multplier, if i go anything over 20 i freeze up and have to reset! Any suggestions on this guys? I had the same issue on my old m5a97 board and had to strictly overclock on FSB alone, I hop that isnt the case here with the 8350! I have a couple Corsair hp 1200 mm fans i can use on the heatsink but iam not sure if that will make a big diffrence!? I just need to get a better cooler thats all

Did you only increase the multi ? Did you increase the voltages ? Did you slowly go up to 20 or go straight in to 20?

Sometimes that the limit, you probably get a tiny bit more the with the bus

with this motherboard multi was automaticly set at 20, i didnt change anything on the multi. I highly doubt the max is 20
