i still have few questions.

could you please tell me how the sensor perform in this mouse compared to zowie EC (AM/FK?!)??? is it exactly the same performance wise???

i pretty much liked the kana v1 sensor wise, it was for me the perfect mouse, will i be able to use the top of this one with the v1??? will this avoid the warranty???

i'd like you to explain me wat is the LOD (i read it pretty much on all forum talking about mouse but i still don't know wat does it mean).

someone wrote tape trick, isnt it the trick used on the da 3.5g where you put a magic paper (if its the correct word) below the bottom, on the sensor part???

thanks for your answer!

Lod means Lift off Distance, so the max distance between mousepad and mouse where it stops tracking most people measure it with cd's.

Tape trick is where you tape the sensor so there is less light emiting from the mouse wich decrease lod.
But it can decrease max maximum tracking speeds.

I dont own the kana only the fk but sensor is the same both use avago 3090 only zowie am/fk uses a custom lense wich results in low lod but decrease the max speeds at wich the mouse will track.

PCB / Sensor / Switch Pictures Updated

In response to Popups: Tested on Red Hien, no noticeable differences on LOD / Silver USB plate

Thanks for testing on the Red Hien, I was curious because I didnt believe it would decrease LOD significantly.

thanks for all your answer smile.gif

tape trick must be done in the entire sensor (i mean on the bottom) or just in the corner???

so how is the lod supposed to descrease performance else than decreasing the max tracking speed?? wat does the lod affect??? (exept if you replace your mouse)

LOD will affect nothing but the lifting of the mouse while playing. Curso will continue moving, if the mouse is not lifted high enough off the pad, which is why a high LOD results in the cursor jumping around (while lifting) for some people.

Otherwise, tracking speed is potentially better that way, due to the strong illumination (as far as I under stand at least).

Reducing LOD via tape fix could then reduce max tracking speed for the same reason.

Correct me if I'm wrong, please wink.gif

does it really affect the LOD in the deathadder/abyssus and the g400?

it highly affects the LOD.
on my g400 i didn't even tape as close as possible to the "eye" because the LOD would be too low for me on a black cloth pad.

That depends on how you define "significantly". Is 1mm significant? To me ~1mm is huge. You wouldn't notice the difference if you are using CDs to measure the LOD because CDs are 1.2-1.3mm in thickness.

The Intellimouse I have has a ~2.1mm LOD on some mouse pads. If it [LOD] was to be cut in half it would be hard for me to play with it.

Does anyone know how much LOD the G400 or G400s has, or even MX518 v2? Because those are the mouses I've used and had no issues with LOD, so if this new Kana v2 has comparable LOD to these mice, then it's a non-issue for me.

My Roccat Pure Optical stops tracking at 3cds but it tracks at 2cds. If Kana v2 is the same then it wouldn't be a problem for me. I would love it to be as low as the FK though but I don't want to sacrafice so much performance for that low of LOD.
