SteelSeries Kana v2 Review by Takasta - UPDATED White Version - Page 20

Well I think I'm stuck with my Roccat Pure Optical. It isn't a bad mouse and I've gotten use to the shape and grip. I really wanted the Kana v2 but I can't wait that long.

I got a Kinzu V2 Pro since today, what's my third Steelseries Model after Xai and Sensei.

The Kinzu would have Potential as a Mouse in general and so would have a Sensei or a Kana. But where Steelseries clearly fails in my eyes is their Buttonfeeling.

I think it's because the Switchplacement combined with the typical ambidextrous curved Shape known from Kinzu, Kana and Xai/Sensei in different Size.

Those ambidextrous Mice from Steelseries all feel spongy if you click them. I noticed this since the very first SS Mouse Xai I had. It's not the clearly defined feeling I appreciate from Mice like the Boomslang CE 2007, or The DA 2013 or even the Taipan, which are Mice that come clearly in my mind because of their very nice decent tactile clear defined but soft feedback.

But those Steelseries Mice just don't feel good at all if you press them and so will the Kana V2 absolutely sure. I don't even have to test it, cause I know Steelseries didn't change anything in Terms of Switchplacement and the known shape.

Best optical back and forth. If the Feeling is not good and the Feeling of a Mouse isn't only about precise tracking but rather also about Buttonfeeling, I don't appreciate that Mouse at all. In Counter Strike it's so important to have a good Clickfeeling because of the different shotmechanics you can use for success.

SS fails, no need to look at the Kana V2 at all, if I look at the clearly better Alternatives I have right here and right now, without the need to order anything new.

Maybe it's just my subjective feeling I have with those ambidextrous Mice from SS and you feel better with those Mice, but if I do not like the Feeling, I simply don't like it and I explained my Complains about them so clearly I could. XD

Even all Zowie Mice feel alot better in Terms of Buttonfeeling even they use Huanos, they have a what I would call clear tactile feedback its own way, cause they implement Huanos well placed with a decent Shape and Huanos have their own Click-Character and Feeback depending also on how you place them combined in contact with the Shape.

I mean a Zowie EC1 evo feels different than a Zowie FK for example, but those Mice are really good for CS all the way from Sensor to Buttonfeeling.

The switch placement of the 2013 is like the SteelSeries mice.

I would like the Zowie AM/FK to have their switches in the same place, but at the other (outer) end of the PCB. I think that would place them right under your fingers. Currently it feels like they are a little to close to the scroll wheel for the shell shape.

I like switches to be as far forward as possible and directly under your fingers. Removes a lot of pre and over travel. Gives you a better feel of the switch. Rapid clicks will be a lot better.

Hi royalkilla408,
Thanks for your reply smile.gif Interesting you say that, i saw so many videos on youtube, and i thought t this mouse, was good for medium hands to palm it... Actually i was very interested in trying it, but i guess i'll wait to see if i can find it at a local shop.. Also can't find many video reviews on that mouse (besides the great review that Ino. did here on OCN)... but enough Off topic smile.gif

SteelSeries responded to me on Twitter basically saying nothing and they have no info to release on the Kana V2 yet.

Bummer.

Why would they, since we have rawinput now?
I never used cplfix since i feel it affects tracking in addition to removing accel. Anir's mouse fix was the perfect tool for the job. Now you don't need them anymore.
