However, I read the second linked post too, and that second post seemed like raw input would be the way to not have acceleration unless what CorruptBE stated is correct. Am I wrong? Thank you for your time!

In my original comment I was referring to people asking about various mouse fix/cpl fix programs that are supposed to remove acceleration (I wasn't commenting on rawinput). Those programs were what I was talking about when I said you never needed them as unchecking EPP and using -noforce commands was adequate and easier. Also, I was only referring to CS since other games also had built in accel and no -noforce commands.

Rawinput is different and bypasses all windows interference with mouse movement which includes removing windows' acceleration.

After reading the 2nd post

Oh, sorry, I didn't know CPL mouse fix was created for quake... I thought we were talking about counter-strike.

Hmm, I see where there might be some confusion. When he says "They DO NOT add any option to disable accel" he means that within the game alone you cannot disable acceleration. You must also uncheck EPP.

>When MouseSpeed=0, no accel was applied

>They add a -noforcemspd launch option to NOT set MouseSpeed=1 //In other words, the game won't turn on EPP, but if EPP is checked then you'll still have accel in-game.

In the end when he's talking about "m_mousespeed 0" in the source engine, he's still talking about trying to disable mouseaccel completely from within the game only. I'm not sure why he cares so much about this. Maybe he wants to use EPP in windows but not ingame...

This is my understanding but I may have missed something.

I am wondering. If CorruptBE is correct, acceleration could be disabled this way. However, if Orange Box did not fix the following quoted issue, acceleration could not be disabled other than raw input or the Cheese/MarkC fix.
"Not so fast: At some stage a Valve developer confused the MouseSensitivity setting with the MouseSpeed setting. (Perhaps easy to do, given that MouseSpeed SEEMS to match the control panel Pointer speed slider...)
They added validation that forced the m_mousespeed console variable to be between 1 and 20, so you CAN'T set it to 0 and you can't disable accel".

I see 2 posts by CorruptBE and they're both correct.

"If CorruptBE is correct, acceleration could be disabled this way." In what way?

Source engine turns off mouseaccel by default (it sounds like EPP may still effect it but I've always had that off and don't have a source engine game installed currently to test) so you don't need to put in any -noforce commands yourself.

>They make -noforcemspd and -noforcemaccel the DEFAULT options

From what I understand "-useforcedmparms" turns accel back on for source engine games, IE: It makes the game behave in the same way as 1.6 with no -noforce commands.

The -useforcedmparms command reverts the mouse movements to C.S. 1.6 the same way that the camera repositions itself to the center in C.S. 1.6? I don't know...

Regarding mouse movement acceleration, E.P.P. remains enabled because of how that the Quake engine was made for earlier versions of Windows not XP, Vista, 7, or 8 is what that I got from that. Is this true?

I don't know what you're referring to.

Yes, that's what I understood as well.

Thank you!

Regarding Counter-Strike 1.6's mouse movements, it moves the cursor back to the center of the desktop? I need to read more into this because it interests me as an old Counter-Strike player!

Sort of off-topic but how does the Scarab feel in relation to the SP, Takasta?

Does it feel anything like the super low-friction SP or is it more in line with the Destructor?

No need for noforce commands for CS GO, it does nothing on the new engine btw. Simply just go into game options and set Mouse Acceleration to Off, if you're still paranoid you could enter into console

m_customaccel "0"
m_mouseaccel1 "0"
m_mouseaccel2 "0"
m_mousespeed "0"

Raw input On/Off is a preference, I've gone back to using it since it relies on LESS inconsistent factors (rather than factoring in fps, dpi, latency, input frequencies, etc).
