SteelSeries Kana v2 Review by Takasta - UPDATED White Version - Page 68

I'm currently using my Ec2 Evo due to the LOD. The mouse doesn't feel as responsive with the tape trick.

strange.
i use this like years on different kind of mice, and never noticed reduced responsiveness.
have you maybe sticked it too close to the small lens?
you can check in enotus, it should keep the same maxtrackingspeed when the tape-fix is applied.

I had some tiger feet (3 set) from when i bought my kana v1 and it came with the most garbage plastic feet and i had to replace them.

before even thinking about the tape trick i tried placing the feet on top of the original kana v2 ones, but it only reduced the lod from 4 cds to around 2, and also changed the way the mouse feels dramatically, as i'm used to my mouse being really low.

then i experimented with the tape trick for a while (like 2 hours or something) and found out that you have to use a small piece of tape and slide it up until the mouse plain doesn't track (it covers the sensor) then after that slide the tape down really slowly until it tracks again, that's the best placement for the tape IMO.

the tracking quality does not get affected by the tape at all.. i can't feel any added delay after adding the tape..

I had to adjust the tape a few times when I did the tape trick
At one point I seemed to have the tape half over the sensor which felt really weird

In the end I tried to get the tape to align with the bottom of the lens and that's where it is now, the tracking feels no different to how it did without the tape but it was worth spending 10-15 mins getting the tape positioned right

The best picture on this thread showing this:

http://www.overclock.net/t/1461248/advanced-tape-trick

I do it that way with my kana v2 and it feels awesome
and which one is better? the old tape trick or the advance?

you can get the LOD lower with the "advanced", but i discovered it doesn't work with different kind of mice, or different surfaces.
the DA 3.5G sensor still tracks with >4m/s on a qck with a much lower LOD than you would get with the standard "tape-trick", while it doesn't work on a 9HD at all anymore.
it also doesn't work with my alcor, where the performance is affected no matter how small i cut that piece of tape.

measure the maxtracking speed in enotus to get a clue, if you still get the optimum out of the mouse.

Is it just me, or does the steelseries engine pop out every time I start my computer? Is there a way to stop this, as it gets pretty annoying sometimes?
Yeah you can change that under "settings"
