exactly. OP the Athlon II X4 will bottleneck quite a bit. your motherboard supports FX CPUs upto 125w. a FX-6300 is ideal for current and future games. with next gen consoles having 8 cores upcoming games are going to be well multithreaded. the trend has already started with frostbite 2/3 , cryengine 3 performing very well on FX 6 and 8 core cpus. also the HD 7950 is available for very good prices. much better than HD 7800 cards.

you can see Athlon II X4 640 not doing well.FX- 6300 at 4.5 ghz is perfect.

definitely save up, sell your 640 and and get a- FX-6300 and HD 7950 3GB. you will be very satisified. do not buy Bulldozer FX-6100. piledriver is 10 - 15% faster clock for clock over bulldozer.

If OP is on a budget, just upgrade the videocard to something that's a good match for the Athlon X4 - Like a Radeon 7770 or 7790.

FX-6350 + future video card would be a good upgrade after that.

If you want to play BF3 that Athlon x4 wont do you much good either.
You need new CPU, GPU and RAM. I know prices are more expensive where you are but if you want a good BF3 experience then you need to upgrade all of that.

^this.

If you do that, get the GPU first, as that will improve the gaming experience more, as right now you are severely GPU bottlenecked. After the upgrade, you'll be a bit CPU bottlenecked, so then upgrade that if you want to go this route.

^and this.

Also, used cards like the 5770 would be a great match for that CPU. Thats what I'd do if I were on a tight budget.

Good luck thumb.gif.
