Need some advice on wireless range

Thread Starter
I have an Xbox in my Garage. With my Asus AC66U router which is in the other end of the house I am only getting like 1 bar on the Xbox. I want to extend my wireless range. I have looked at wireless extenders and from what I am reading, if I use one of those my speed gets cut in half. Is this true? And when I read speed cut in have, does that mean everything on my wireless network, like laptop tivo etc. What would be the best solution to extender my wireless speed and range?

Thanks

Im using a Belkin Range extender and I dont perceive my speeds being cut in halve so not sure if thats true or not. As far as I know it as a device is limited by the signal strength it can get to the original device. So not likely full speed anyway but not automatically halved because you are using one if you know what I mean.

-46 is pretty good and so is the max attainable rate. One thing I did notice from mine is the connections to range extender hard about 45ms extra on the ping time sop they must add latency.

Not so ideal if you are gaming online in FPS games.
