Looking for complete upgrade of my sound set-up for my gaming PC.

I am looking to upgrade my sound system basically because I just feel like it. Started a new job and with some extra income laying around I want to make a few upgrades to my PC starting with the audio.

I am leaning on getting the Creative ZXR sound card.

And for headphones I am looking to upgrade from my AD700's to something better. I am looking for headphones in the <~300 USD range preferrably but I will consider anything that isn't outrageous.

I do enjoy to compete in games but these days I am more casual than anything. However I would like some headphones that can compliment the beastly ZXR sound card and really make it shine. I would like the headphones to be excellent for positional audio/games/music and movies ideally. Something with more bass would be nice.

Any recs, suggestions etc is highly recommended. That's why I made this thread.

Right now I have been looking at these

Are you just looking to use headphones, or are you looking to use external speakers too? Headphones I'd recommend Checking out the Schiit Magni / Modi combo, absolutely amazing DAC / Headphone amp combo - you can read all over audio forums about this combo.

As for headphones, I can't really recommend as I'm more of a speaker guy myself, but I'm sure someone on here can steer you right, otherwise you might want to check out the OCN recommended audio section thumb.gif

Already jumped the gun and picked up some AKG Q701's and matched it with the somewhat new ZXR creative sound card. Going to see how that goes for me thumb.gif 500+ dollars later, and I just payed off my credit card too!
