First Time WC / Lian Li PC P80 - Merging Coolers?

Hi all,

Just been comtemplating doing a rebuild of my current rig and so that got me thinking.

I was looking toward either the 3930K or eventual 4930K but see everyone cooling them so far with giant twin radiator H100s.

But since I built this case for my SR-2, there's only one 120mm rear exhaust and one 120 top. I don't have the space for a large twin radiator.

So that had me thinking. Would it even be possible to use both my existing H80s merged together to cool one 2011-series CPU?

if the base of the heatsink on both of those is copper, I thought a rectangular bridge plate could fit the CPU and be long enough for both coolers to sit on top of. But then again I am just trying to think creatively as to what I can do for the best cooling.

I've not dabbled with full water before so was curious if there was anything that could fit in a 120mm sized spot for just the CPU only that's not as big as the H100.

Wanting to of course, OC any of these K chips as far as they'll go, short of insane LN2 or whatever.

Just realizing that much of what I do is unfortunately, still single or dual threaded and many of my pro tools aren't quite using the full power of the SR-2. That and chips are moving fast enough that one good K series chip can...almost.. catch both my OC'd Xeons.

Basically, would an H80 still be plenty good enough for say, a 4.5+ OC on a Hexacore K CPU? My rear vent has enough room to keep the twin fan installed so I'd do a push/pull with it. I know my E5645 defaults at 90w TDP and the 2011 chips are designed for more power than that. Running a 150% OC as is with temps holding below 60C usually. I'm just wondering if one cooler is enough to keep and put into the replacement system or should I look into more esoteric things, thanks.

Here's the cooling space I have now (that front grille has since been removed):

Was thinking of something like this.

Un-sandwiched the parts so you can see. Just a copper plate between the blocks and CPU.

But then I see there's no proper way to have the blocks sit on the plate tightly.

Will probably just try a single H80 how I have it set up now and see how temps are once I rebuild / OC.
