Picked up a Asus Xonar STX Modified, on Ebay

Hi all,

Been looking at picking up a cheap soundcard for a while, I primarily listen to music > watch films > and play games through my Onkyo 5.1 surround sound

I knew the Asus Xonar STX is around £145 new over here, and I managed to pick one up on an impulse buy for £90, and the buyer threw in a Cambridge Audio 300 Series Digital Cable RCA/RCA 1M unopened for £6 (Seen them in my trusted electronic store for £20 ish)

His description of the card is this;
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Audiophile-grade soundcard. Industry leading 124dB S/N ratio. Incredible sound either via RCA, 6.3mm Headphone or S/PDIF.

Upgraded to superior LME 49860NA Op-Amps x 2. Massive soundstage, incredible detail and imaging.

These really make the most of the STX.

Original JRC 2114D x 2 supplied.

Around 4 months old, as new condition. All manuals, ASIO CD drivers, Y-cables etc. Boxed.

I listen to music quite a bit, but I will be getting back into gaming more, and my PC is always being used for watching high quality films (I'm working on my blu-ray collection!)

When I move out, the music and film watching will be LOT more often.

Also, I liked the card because it supports ASIO which I wanted for my gutiar recording interface

Can anyone offer any insight on the modification, and whether the card is actually going to be worth the £90 through my speakers? I will also look at some recommendations for headphones to use with the card smile.gif Once I have the money

Best sound card for a gamer IMO.
I use sennheiser hd600 headphones and music trough these are hard to beat with a essence stx.
without doubt the amplifier with the card is as good as any dac out there unles you go overboard with price.

I been happy with my card since release without any modifications.
