EVGA Classified E760 USB issues

post #1 of 4

Hi guys, been a while... I generally don't have too many issues that can't be fixed by troubleshooting or googling, but this one has me totally stumped.

I have been using my computer as usual up until tonight, when I decided to plug my camera in(via USB) to see what I could do with some of the pictures, after doing this three times or so my keyboard turns off. In an attempt to fix the problem I restarted my computer, however this led to more problems(namely a ridiculously long post, the letters 'scrolled', which I have never seen happen before) and the keyboard was not picked up during POST. The things that I have tried to fix it include;

1. Unplugging everything from the USB ports.
2. Testing the keyboard in all the USB ports I have(I don't have any front headers connected, or a way to test them)
3. Clearing the CMOS
4. Trying another keyboard(both work, confirmed by typing this post up on one haha)

Aside from the slow post everything seems normal(all my other USB devices appear to work as well, I can get power out of them), and it's just plain weird. A push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT and it seems pulling out my HDD's and plugging them back in fixed it, I have no idea how it helped but it works again!

Just putting it out there, are the usb/chipset drivers on the motherboard up to date?
Sometimes my board won't pick up the keyboard if i plug it into a different port after moving the tower from one room to another, a second attempt or a restart usually fixes it.

Irrelevant, can't even get into windows so drivers don't even make a difference... I've restarted a heap of times and even tried one stick of ram in each slot, nothing.

You tried pulling the CMOS?

Have you tried a "normal" keyboard, not just your G15/Ducky?

Have you decided on what you're going to upgrade to yet? Or which STi you're going to get?
