Need help Improving Computer!

Thread Starter
I have a Dell XPS 8500, and I want to replace the graphic card. The specs are at the bottom of the post.
The graphics card I was looking at is here:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00DKX0U0Y/ref=nosim/7240466-rg2304-00-20?s=merchant&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER

I will be using this computer for mainly gaming. Is the graphics card I posted compatible? How can make this computer the best possible for gaming?

MY BUDGET IS $300 IN TOTAL FOR ALL IMPROVEMENTS NOT JUST GRAPHICS CARD.

All modern graphics cards use PCI express. You shouldn't experience any compatibility problems except for physical ones. Look at the measurements of the new card and verify that there is enough space in your case to fit it.

I would also highly recommend you get a solid state drive and put your operating system on it. A 64GB SSD can be had for as little as 50$, and you will notice a significant improvement to responsiveness of your average computer actions.

that card will work fine but i am not sure the power supply is enough, do you know what it is?
does it have two 6 pin PCI power connections?

something like this would fit the bill:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0092ML0MY/?tag=pcpapi-20
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004RJ8EKI/?tag=pcpapi-20

i know both of those puts you over the $300 mark by a few dollars but i didn't see anything trustworthy on amazon for less.
