A APU would be best here in this case of wanting both.
After Effects is optimized for a A10's iGPU and multiple threads/cores.
Quad Core, good Low/Mid range on board GPU that has great support for encoding now in the program he is going to use.
He has a 360 to game with and if he goes PC the gpu will hold up for lowest settings or better depending on game.
Don't have to sell the GPU later when you get more money for a better one.
More money for better parts elsewhere
