Help me out with my build please!

I can't decide what to do for my computer rig that will become my main gaming/work desktop. Please provide insight on which one I should go with. I will keep components listed to the important ones and exclude the others. The biggest factor in deciding on what to do is the fact that I want to justify the cost of PC gaming with some spectacular visuals. Never gamed on a 1440p before, but someone said that it just increases your field of vision, not so much with the visuals. Is this true?

Option 1:
CPU: 3570k
GPU: SLI GTX 680 DC2T
Mobo: Maximus VI Formula
*Water Cooled Custom Loop*
Monitor: Asus VG278H 3D Monitor 1080p 120hz

Option 2:
CPU: 4770k or 4930k
GPU: SLI GTX 780
Mobo: Maximus VI Extreme or Rampage IV Formula
*Air Cooled*
Monitor: Samsung S27B970D 1440p monitor 60hz

If money is no issue then pick option 2. I would pick option 1 since it'll be cheaper. I've never gamed on 1440 so I can't comment on that.

Option 2, for obvious reasons.

Option 2 with 4770K. Then custom loop in the future.

Right on, thanks guys! Since everyone here seems to like option 2 that will be the route I will go with! Also, a very good point that I can go ahead and watercool down the road with higher end components seems more logical. Thank your for helping me decide guys!

I would take the 120hz monitor over the 1440p one, granted I'm a little weird and I like to be able to see super high frames, rather then higher res.
Its funny, my current monitors self overclock, I can see up to roughly 95-100hz on them. They are rated at 60. biggrin.gif

Agreed, I can totally see a difference between 60hz and 120hz in terms of how smooth gameplay is.

I decided to change the setup a bit because of a recent change in living situation.

Originally I was going to be living in a small room at my parents place, but a recent college buddy got in touch with me and wants to move back toward campus in an apartment so I will be going to live somewhere else in the spring. That being said I will have more room space to do more monitors! biggrin.gif So I will be going 5760x1080 over a single 1440p. That being said I will need more gpu power and a x79 setup, so here is my build. Let me know what you think! *Excluded drives because those really don't matter to much in terms of raw performance*

CPU: 4930k
Mobo: Evga x79 Dark
GPU: x3 780 Classy or x3 780 Lightning (depends on reviews)
RAM: 32gb G Skill 1600mhz (OC for tight timings over speed) (16gb purchased already)
PSU: Evga 1300g2 (purchased)
Case: Corsair Carbide 540 (purchased)
Fans: Scythe GT 1850rpm (I know radiator fans, but still do some good cfm) (purchased)
SSD: 600GB Corsair Neutron Raid 0 (480gb + 120gb) (480gb purchased)

You realize if you RAID 0 a 480GB drive and a 120GB you will only get to use 120GB of space.

Really? I thought raid 0 combines the drives space.
