Will my Xonar DX fit in a PCI 2.0?

Thread Starter
Hi,

So Im having a problem with my mic with my recently installed xonar DX. When im using voice clients and not gaming my mic is making a small amount of white noise but immediately When i launch a game a large amount of static noise comes through the mic. So After researching the problem a little bit it seems that the only way to fix this issue is to move the sound card farther away from my GPU. Unfortunately my PCI express slots are right next to my GPU. But I have two 2.0 slots that are near the bottom of the mobo. SO ideally it would seem this would work if the sound card would accept that slot on the mobo. Or maybe there is a different way entirely to solve this problem im really not sure still pretty new to good HD audio.

PCIe soundcards fit to any PCIe slot, the full-size or small-size (were they named 1x and 16x?).
So put the soundcard on the bottom slots.

And there is always the DIY method to fix EMI noise from GPU.

PCIe is backwards compatible. 3.0 GPUs, for example, will work in 2.0 slots. Small cards will also work in large slots: x1 and x4 cards will work in x16 slots (even though it has 4 or 16 times the lanes the card has; they just aren't used). However, no PCIe device will work in a PCI slot without an adapter. I have serious doubts that you need to transfer a GB/s for a sound card, so the 2.0 slot will be fine. Move it first, and if that doesn't work, you could try an extension cord to move it even farther away in the case. It could be interference, or it could be a crappy component.
