Hi, I am in desperate need of help, here is my situation.

I just bought 2 additional monitors to accompany my current one, I did this so that I can do some surround/eyefinity gaming. But here is the thing, i'm still using my GTX 295 from the semi dark ages. So basically I need to buy a new graphics card/s.

My system.
H100i
3770k
32GB Trident 2133MHZ
Asus Rampage
Corsair platinum 1200W
Phantom 820 Gun Metal

I have about $1200 to spend, remember this is in Australia and that will just get a Titan.

Here is a list of options I am considering. (click on links to view aussie price, also they are not the reference models)(Also I am going to be getting around another thousand dollars soon from ebay so i could sli 780 or 7990 if I wanted.)

Titan - $1200
780 ACX - $900
770 x2 $1180
760 x3 $1200
7990 - $900
7970 x2 $1280
Wait for 880 x2

I want these cards to last, and I want them to perform like a BEAAAST!

If you have anything you would like to say just post and I will reply as soon as I can.

If you want the cards to last you a good amount of time I'd recommend getting the titan and then picking up another one down the line. Otherwise I'd recommend going with sli 780's the performance of the 2 780s will be a lot more than the titan as well.

Yes, I was thinking of doing something along these lines. The 880 sounds extremely powerful though so i'm split between waiting or buying.

If you need something now and the current technology that out can fit you're need then I'd say get it. The 880 is going to take around a year to come so I don't really think theres a point. What I would suggest waiting for however is AMD's next line up of cards, which is apparently going to be revealed next month. That way you know what the red camp has to offer and the competition brought from AMD's cards may even lower the prices of the 780 and titan biggrin.gif

Wait for the next AMD line-up is what I'd recommend, too.
Even if they don't seem fit to your needs, hopefully the market prices will shift to a lower point. thumb.gif
In that case, perhaps grab a 780, wait for the 880's, sell the 780 (as it will still have decent value) and upgrade - ultimately to a Maxwell SLI.

I'm thinking of just getting the 7990, I can sell it if the 880 really is that good.

Of course, this is a viable option. I would expect no performance issues considering the latest drivers. However not in case you play games that aren't optimized for multiple GPUs.
On a side note - if you take the VRAM consideration - AFAIK it's still 3GB per GPU for the 7990, and the effective memory bus bandwidth gets divided by two, respectively.

Very true, thanks for that. That said wouldn't the memory bus just act as if the card was extremely powerful instead of splitting for each gpu?

Roughly how long would someone have to wait for the 8xx series to launch or be somewhat close to launch?

It has to push the same information twice since the buffers have to be mirrored. And data needs to be mirrored because the GPUs must have access to virtually the same resources in order to properly render frames at an equally alternating rate.
So each set of memory banks gets the same set of information to feed their GPU. Essentially this means 384bits of memory bandwidth per processor.
