Okay, so.. I never understood this complaint about BF3. I know it's "skill-less" but without them, jets and helis would be ridiculous. As it is, if your team isn't the best.. it can get pretty easy to get steam rolled by a good chopper pilot despite the lock-on weapons.
However, I do like how they've tried to balance lock-on weapons in BF4 by making it so you have to maintain a lock so it's no longer fire and forget.
That's the whole point, a vehicle is always suppose to be up and beyond what a single man should be able to do, in B2 I remember people going and hiding in places when a tank was coming thru, now in B3 you get idiots bunny hopping out in the open with their magic lock on systems.
Specially the lock on distance and the fact that there is no limit to them, so if you play on a good server and there's that one guy doing his job in a jet/heli, you get 20 idiots on opposite side switching to lock-on system, ruining the whole vehicle experience, as you have no chance in hell even with 5-8 people going around with stingers.
gets in heli, flies for 10-15 sec, and then from then its just a constant BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP lock-on that ruined so much of the experience with the vehicles for me.
Anyone remember getting into a blackhawk in B2, and getting a group of people and flying from flag to flag capturing them, and not just the typical flight time of 2 min in B3, but for half of the damn game! what about taking down such a thing, that was super satisfying aiming your own rocket, not just BEEP BEEP -HIT. Yay sounds fun...
