Installing and Uninstalling

Call me paranoid but I want to know if when you uninstall a program, say Skyrim, does all of the contents that were installed actually go away? How good is the actual uninstaller work? I do not know if it's just me or not but I feel like its never the same when I uninstall a program/game. I feel like Windows is slower or my other games I have installed never run as well. Am I just being paranoid? Because here is my thoughts on it. Why do we reinstall Windows every 6 months to a year? Because the OS has gotten bogged down with extra junk and it is slowing down. So how many uninstalled programs does it take? Why not just reinstall Windows after the first program not associated with Windows you install, you uninstall?

I agree most programs leave behind folders and registry keys, etc... Generally, I haven't had issues with the left over clutter causing performance problems with Windows, though. I just keep an eye on the usual places when removing a program (Program Files, App Data, Program Data, etc...) and manually delete left over folders.

However, something that might interest you is Revo Uninstaller or Total Uninstall. Both of these tools can trace installed programs and remove and extra junk left behind when you uninstall. They can also "record" new installs - basically it'll monitor changes to the file system to see what's been installed and keep a log of it. thumb.gif

So doesn't help unless its really the first thing you install. And I think, you really shouldn't have to install any of these little programs like these. Have you seen how much is left over in your system32 folder?

Would also recommend Revo Uninstaller and Wise Registry Cleaner is optional for a thorough sweep of left overs.
