fx 6300 or 6350 ? - Page 5

reply to others posts but my own way

i only bought a sabertooth because gigabyte was sold out , gigabyte have been my choice for years and their bios is awesome - my preference
i had a friend burn his mobo because intel hate heat - aww
get the 6350 - you know its slightly better and for slightly little bit more

intel pays ppl to be on this forum to push their products, its all in the fine print - just sharing it as its basically hidden

Even in crysis 3 the fx 6300 is ahead by 10fps. Please have a look at benchmarks before posting. Maybe in older games like metro 2033 it doesn't make a difference but in newer games it sure does. Even in metro last light the FX does better.

I don't know what clocks you are basing those stats off but my fps in bioshock didn't decrease in any way
sure maybe at 600x800 but at 1080 and beyond my bench scores where almost identical but the
6300 had a max OC and watercooling where as the 1090 was running with a $20 air cooler...

Yes there was a slight difference in crysis 3.. 1-5 frames(but keep in mind phenom is not max oc)

And in some newer games such as hitman/far cry and planetside ... the 6300 does much worse... believe me I checked
My own benchmarks.... vs my own benchmarks... rather than somebodies sponsored or outdated
ones and they trade blows the whole time like I said... but in no way worth an upgrade...

It's stock for stock. If you think the Phenom II x6 can overclock, well then the FX 6300 can overclock too. Have a look for yourself.

If it's at all optional, I would hold off any upgrades until we start to see the performance requirements of the next console game ports to the PC.

That being said, games for the first time appear to be noticeably benefiting from 4+ cores. And one would expect core usage will only improve as devs get more familiar with engine optimizations for this multi-core generation of consoles. Most of the benchmarks I've seen show the 6350 beating a four core Deneb (9x5).

Though if it were me, I'd spend the extra $40 and get a 8320 to OC. It's down to $145 on Amazon right now. thumb.gif

indeed they both overclock....
its just that my 6300 thermal caps around 4.8
with a zalman water cooler....
where as my 1090 hit its thermal cap at
4.4 with a cheapo OCZ air cooler.... so it stands to
reason with the water I would reach a higher level...
similarly clocked thermal cap on water as the 6300....
but with higher clock for clock performance.

The point being....the upgrade is NOT WORTH THE MONEY... Im
not arguing the x6 is a better cpu...they both excel in
different areas...another anomaly is pwi games that run night and day ahead
on the x6... even though a couple of the games where only released last year
but the change from the x6 to the 6300 is worth maybe $30 not $130

And using blacklist for a benchmark is kind of irrelevant...
anyone who was stupid enough as I to go out and purchase
this game knows what I mean....all the graphics in the world
can't make this turd a good game.
If I hadn't paid for it my
outlook may be slightly different but alas I did.... same as
I did with the FX-6300....

I liked the game and so did many others. What about the other games? See I don't think jumping from the Phenom II x6 to the FX 6300 is an upgrade. The FX 8320/8350 would be an upgrade. But in games the FX 6300 does seem to do better maybe because of newer instructions and architecture. I see you have the FX 6300. What's your 24/7 overclock for it? Got to say over a certain frequency they run pretty hot.

Thank god... that is all I was trying to say it is not worth it in any way...
The x6 wins some, the FX wins some...
