Hello,

FIrst post on the forum but i've been lurking around for quite some time. I've done some searching around but only found like one or two threads on the topic which weren't too solid. What I want to know is if i need to do A fresh install of my OS if I am just switching processors and nothing else. I am currently on Win 7 and I am switching from an AM3 to an AM3+ CPU to get the full potential out of my AM3+ mobo. Any help would be appreciated. biggrin.gif

No, definitely not for just a CPU. Win 7 is very forgiving of hardware changes in general, but just changing the CPU is no issue at all.

No just swap the processor. The pc should tell you to restart once it installs the proper drivers for that CPU.

Awesome! That's is what I thought and was hoping the case was. Thank you for confirming for me!thumb.gif
