Hi.
Right now, I have a 6970, and would like to upgrade soon. I have money on the side for a 9970 (or 9950) but now I see an AMAZING deal on Newegg for a 7950 3gb for only 200 dollars! What should I do, overclockers??

Unless you find that you're lacking with the 6970 and gaming (or whatever) isn't satisfying in it's current state, I say wait. A new model AMD card only means that the existing cards will become more prominent in sales. At least, that's my 2cents.gif

Sounds like some good 2cents.gif to me. I guess your right, I should be using that money on a new processor anyways. Or I guess I could use it for gas, but who needs that anyways, right?

Wait. I am waiting also with crossfire 7870. Some strange deals could pop up on the 7 series between now and then and certainly after if rumours regards price/perf are true.

OP the HD 7950 represents an amazing value for money.the HD 7900 cards are being cleared ahead of the HD 9900 series which has been confirmed for a Oct launch. There could also be a HD 9800 series probably which takes the USD 200 - 300 price range. But at the current prices its difficult to see any card in the near future beat the HD 7950 on price / perf.

so the better option would be to upgrade your CPU to a FX-8350 and get a Sapphire HD 7950. the difference would be massive. you are looking at a 60 - 65% perf improvement at average OC of 1100 - 1150 mhz. also in the latest DX11 games like Crysis 3, Farcry 3, Tombraider its close to a 80 - 100% increase. the HD 7950 at 1125 mhz matches HD 7970 ghz. thumb.gif

Can find 7950s under 200$ as well, though since rumor has the next-gen cards to be in October, prolly could wait since the 6970 isn't that much behind the 7950.
